Background

Colin grew up in Plymouth, Devon. While studying at the Technical College he was encouraged by his tutors to study classical art and architecture and to draw from the life model.

The bleak landscape of Dartmoor and the rugged coast line of Devon were the main influences in his early work.

After leaving Plymouth, Colin trained as a Cartographic Draughtsman in Southampton. Colin became a member of the local art society and sold his first water colour painting at their annual exhibition for £10.

Colin now lives and works in Notting Hill, London.

In London, Colin has attended courses in Life Drawing and Painting, Sculpture, Wax Modelling from the life model and Fresco painting at the Slade School of Art. He has also studied painting with the Open College which is affiliated with the Open University. Colin passed the course with distinction and was awarded second prize on two occasions at their annual exhibition. His work has been exhibited at the Royal College of Art and the Bankside Gallery, London and is currently studying History of Art at Birkbeck College, London.

Colin Has travelled widely in Europe and North America. The art and architecture of Italy and the Northern Renaissance have inspired him in his work. In particular Florence, Rome, the Amalfi coast, Gent, Antwerp and Brugge have provided many subjects for his work.

The mountains and desert of New Mexico are providing the Inspiration in Colin's recent work.

Colin has sold his work in New York, Philadelphia, Canada, France, Luxembourg, Italy and the United Kingdom.
